This past September, I finally found the time to launch my own slime shop called Glitz and Goo. From the goo guide that comes with the slimes, to the website, to the slimes themselves, I've created it all. It's definitely my outlet for adorable things.
Previously, I worked for an organization called Million Women Mentors as their State Programs Manager. Million Women Mentors aims to get 1 million mentors for girls and women in STEM. Along with my management duties, I was responsible for creating necessary MWM collateral. I created everything from toolkits and posters for State Leadership, to a 40-page booklet featuring reports on 30+ states, redesigned their website to be responsive, and even a proposal document for MWM and partner organizations - a document designed and written by me.
Since 2010, I have worked with a group of sneakers lovers in Nashville, TN to help promote their event Sneakers X Speakers. SXS is a yearly sneaker event where lovers of fresh kicks come together to buy, sell, and trade sneakers all while listening to the best little-known local hip-hop talent. I have created flyers, sponsorship decks, and even logos for t-shirts and other promotional materials, and even implemented 2 versions of their website.
For nearly 3 years, I was the Creative Director at SupplyHog, a startup focused on the construction industry. Working with members from all areas of the company, I led the design team through several redesigns of the fully responsive website and user optimizations. My team was also responsible for all print collateral and presentations. Here are some selected works from the last iteration of the website during my time there, along with a t-shirt design and email marketing templates.
Over the past few months, I have begun writing about the one of the things I love to do most - try new things. My friends know if I've done it, I've got an opinion about it and I love being able to share that. The things that held me (and a lot of people) back from experiencing all the world has to offer has to do with the unknowns. Thinking back, most new experiences could have went a lot better had I known more going in, which is what I try to give my readers with my posts. Worthy or Waste has helped me get over my fears, push myself to do things I never thought I would (like go to Six Flags ALONE!) and share my experiences.
It's a passion project and I love doing it.
